software development process

Terms from Statistics for HCI: Making Sense of Quantitative Data

There are many processes by which software is designed and created that relate to the kind of software, application domain and organisation, but those parts that involve any form of interaction with the user typically follow an iterative process. Initial design activity leads to the making of a demonstrable artefact: from storyboards and sketches to wireframes, hi-res prototypes or a running system. The artefact is subjected to testing or evaluation: formative evaluation in the early stages and summative evaluation on a pre-release product.
